Frenkie de Jong has been constantly linked with a move to Barcelona, and the club's sporting director Eric Abidal says it is up to the midfielder to decide if he wishes to join the La Liga champions.
The Ajax midfield ace, who has also been linked with Ligue 1 champions PSG, would have to make up his mind on whether he will remain at his current club or seal a move to the Camp Nou.
"This question has to be asked to the player, he knows there is interest from many clubs and he will make his decision," Abidal said as Marca reported.
"We can only wait, like everyone else."
Abidal admits there could be players moving away from the club this month, with Malcom and Denis Suarez among those linked with loan moves.
"We are happy with the squad but there is always a chance," the Frenchman added.
"Players who are not playing very much can stay or leave, all scenarios will be evaluated."
Barcelona have brought in Jeison Murillo and Kevin-Prince Boateng, while Munir El Haddadi has departed the Camp Nou.
