Pedro, whose playing my time at Barcelona reduced since Luis Suarez's arrival, has been linked with a move away from the Camp Nou - with Chelsea leading the race to secure the Spaniard's services.

And, former Barcelona defender Eric Abidal doesn't think it’s right for Barca to let players like Pedro leave.

“Players such as Pedro cannot be allowed to go,” he is quoted as saying by AS. “I know him as a player but also as a person. He is a player who fits into the first team very well.

“Pedro is still an important part of this squad, but everyone knows that the player always wants to play and before he had more minutes than now. If Laporta wins, we will look at his future from July 19.”

Abidal will become the club’s sporting director if the club's former president Joan Laporta wins the upcoming presidential election.
