Liverpool could receive a significant boost ahead of their Premier League fixture against Wolverhampton Wanderers, as first-choice goalkeeper Alisson Becker may be available for selection.
The Brazilian shot-stopper has missed Liverpool’s last two games due to injury, but head coach Arne Slot offered a positive update during his pre-match press conference on Friday.
“We think he is [ready to play],” Slot confirmed. “He trained yesterday as part of our session with the group, so we’re expecting him to do the whole session today. So, we think he is available, but of course, we have to train today."
Slot also expressed his satisfaction with Alisson's return, while acknowledging the strong performances from backup goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher in his absence.
“Of course, we’re really happy with Alisson being back," Slot added, "but I want to emphasise the fact that Caoimhin did really well in the two games he was in goal for us. It's another example of me having two, and I think even three, good options in certain positions.”
Alisson’s potential return will bolster the Reds as they head to Molineux, where they will look to continue their strong start to the season.
