Manchester United summer signing Ander Herrera has revealed how much he respects Michael Carrick and how his team-mate helps inspire younger players in the squad.
Carrick missed the start of the 2014-15 campaign due to injury and since his return to first-team action, Louis van Gaal's side have been better in midfield with the England international's passing ability and experience in reading the game.
However, Herrera who joined the Red Devils last summer after his move from Athletico Bilbao says United's vice-captain Carrick is one of the best players he has ever played with.
"He always gives us calmness; he's a very calm guy when he's playing. He gives me confidence," Herrera told MUTV.
"He is very good for the young players because he always tries to help, not necessarily with words but with his attitude and his calmness.
"He is one of the best players I've ever played with and a very good professional," the Spaniard added.
"We can all improve by looking at him and what he does. I feel lucky to play with him."
