Angel Di Maria said that David de Gea should have been the man of the match after Manchester United’s 2-1 victory at Old Trafford.
Di Maria’s sublime finish in the 27th minute put Manchester United ahead before Leighton Baines` penalty was saved by David de Gea just before half-time.
Steven Naismith headed in an equaliser a few minutes into the second half and Radamel Falcao scored his first United goal in the 62nd minute to secure three points for the Reds.
David de Gea made a couple of decisive saves in the second half and man-of-the-match Di Maria believes the Spanish goalkeeper deserved the award.
“I think David’s the guy who deserves this award rather than myself,” Di Maria told BT Sport.
“He saved us throughout the game with some great saves and obviously the penalty as well. Not only him but the rest of the size deserve this.”
The win left United fourth in the Premier League table and six points behind table-toppers Chelsea.
“I think we're on the right road now,” Di Maria continued. “The main thing is that we're fighting for victories, fighting for points.
“We got the three points today and hopefully we can make it further up the table.”
