Arsenal forward Theo Walcott says he is delighted at making his first start of the campaign in the Gunners' FA Cup 2-0 win over Hull City.
Arsene Wenger's men cruised to victory over the Tigers, thanks to goals by Per Mertesacker in the 20th minute and man-of-the-match Alexis Sanchez.
However, England international Walcott revealed his delight at returning to first-team action at the Emirates after a lengthy spell out due to a knee injury.
“It was nice for me personally to blow the cobwebs away after being out for a year to the day,” Walcott told BBC Sport.
“It was nice to get involved and get a few chances. I wanted to put them away and it wasn’t to be.
“I think mentally it is very hard when you are in the treatment room alone, when your team-mates are going out to train or going to the World Cup.
“But I had a lot going on in my life off the field which helped me keep going.”
