Norgaard Praises Arsenal Welcome: "It’s Been Very Easy"

For Christian Norgaard, the transition from Brentford captain to Arsenal midfielder has felt more like a smooth handover than a seismic career leap. And that’s saying something when you’ve recently joined one of the biggest clubs in the world at age 31.

Settling into life at Arsenal, Norgaard spoke warmly of his first few weeks in red and white, describing the experience as “fantastic” and crediting the club’s support network for making his early days feel like home.

Speaking from Singapore ahead of Arsenal’s next pre-season clash against Newcastle United on Sunday, Norgaard reflected on how starting pre-season with the team has given him a head start.

"I’ve been able to be with the team from day one of pre-season and it’s benefited me a lot," he said as Arsenal.com quoted. "I’m much further down the line now in terms of the integration of play than I would have been if I joined now. So it’s been fantastic so far. It’s such a good group, such a good group of staff, and the whole team around has made everything very easy."

Denmark international Christian Norgaard is pleased to have sealed a move from Brentford to Arsenal.

It’s easy to forget that weeks ago, Norgaard was still leading Brentford from midfield, a role he held with grit and leadership for six seasons, two of them as club captain. But for the Denmark international, the allure of Arsenal wasn’t merely about the step up in stature, it was about seizing a moment that might never come again.

"I’m realistic, of course," he acknowledged. "I know this is a step up in terms of quality, size of club. But I’m also here to contribute, otherwise I wouldn’t have made the move."

It’s that grounded mindset, confident yet humble, that’s already earning him quiet admiration among fans and teammates alike. Norgaard isn’t here just to make up the numbers; he’s here to add depth, experience, and calm to a midfield buzzing with youthful flair.

"There’s the things you see on the pitch, but there’s a lot of other things going on around the football team," he added. "And I hope I can really help this team both on and off the pitch."

Norgaard admitted that walking away from Brentford, a club he helped stabilise in the Premier League under Thomas Frank's leadership, wasn’t easy. But when Arsenal called, the decision didn’t take long.

"I signed a new deal with Brentford, but when the interest came from Arsenal and after my first talks with Mikel, it was very clear to me that I would do everything to be able to play here," he said. "To get this adventure, to be part of a team that has such big ambitions, is for me an amazing step to take at this stage in my career."

As Arsenal’s Asia tour continues, Norgaard is likely to feature again, offering Mikel Arteta a different kind of midfield presence, wise, unshaken, and already well-embedded into the group. His arrival may not have come with fireworks, but it’s increasingly clear he could play a quiet, pivotal role in the season ahead.
