Arsene Wenger heaped praise on Arsenal new boy Sead Kolasinac for the defender’s ‘outstanding’ display in his side’s Community Shield win over Chelsea on Sunday.
The Bosnian who replaced Per Mertesacker towards the end of the first half, scored the equaliser as he headed home a brilliant free-kick from Granit Xhaka.
Kolasinac’s equaliser took the game to penalties, and Arsenal won 4-1. Following the victory at the Wembley stadium, the Frenchman hailed the 24-year-old - who moved from Schalke to the Emirates on a free transfer this summer.
‘Physically he is very strong – naturally,’ said Wenger as the Metro reported. ‘We have players who are pumped up in the gym and players who are born strong – he is the second part.
‘Power plays a part in the Premier League but it’s not only that. I bought him for that and his attitude.
‘You need a combination of talent and attitude and he looks to me like he has that and is supported by a strong body.’
