Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta had nothing but praise for his Gunners after their dramatic 2-2 draw against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
City initially took the lead through Erling Haaland, but the north London club responded 14 minutes later with a goal from Riccardo Calafiori. Gabriel Magalhaes then made it 2-1 just before halftime, only for John Stones to level the score in the final moments after City's relentless pressure.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Arteta said: "Absolutely, I am proud. The way the players performed under normal conditions was excellent, especially considering that City haven’t lost here for over 40 games. Then, to play with ten men for 55 minutes and still show such character—I am extremely proud of them."
On coming so close to the win, Arteta added: "When you’ve defended for 97 minutes, only for it to go to 99 and concede, it’s very disappointing. But I couldn’t be prouder of my players and the way they competed today."
