Midfielder Busquets acknowledged Barca’s chances of retaining the title is out of their hands.

Sergio Busquets admits Barcelona face a difficult task to retain the LaLiga title after their 2-2 draw with Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night.

Diego Costa's own goal from a corner kick handed Barcelona the lead before Saul's strike from 12 yards put Atleti on level terms.

Lionel Messi's 700th career goal wasn’t enough to secure three points for Los Cules at the Camp Nou as Rojiblancos' Saul Niguez scored a brace from the penalty spot to share the spoils.

Quique Setien’s side are now one point behind arch-rivals Real Madrid who will go four points clear if they seal a win over Getafe on Thursday.

"Look, to fight for the title is really complicated if you're dropping two points each two games, but we're going to keep fighting until the end," the Spain international told Movistar.

"We know it's difficult but we're going to try. They're a difficult rival. We dominated and created chances but the two penalties, penalised us – it's been a real shame.

"We were leaders and in a perfect situation before the break. I think it's been difficult for us since – some matches we've played better, others we haven't.

"Dropping points today and at the weekend means we're a little bit further away from our goal, which is to retain the title. I think we played better today but it's a difficult task ahead of us."
