Barkley: Three points was more important.

Everton youngster Ross Barkley has hailed the Toffees' display against Aston Villa on Saturday as a "great" one.

Roberto Martinez's side destroyed Villa by four goals to nothing with Barkley scoring twice on the day and after the clash at Goodison Park, the England international told EvertonTV: “Overall it was a great team performance. Getting two goals was a bonus but the main thing was getting the three points.

“We have got attacking threat on the counter and in general play, and we have the security from the players at the back.

“The whole team is playing with confidence - we are all wanting the ball. We are taking the last performance into each game as it comes and we are going to keep doing that over the fixtures coming up.”

Everton travel to Dean Court next to face Bournemouth in the Premier League.
