Benji Stambouli says Tottenham need to put thoughts of a Wembley appearance to one side.
The Lilywhites' Benji Stambouli has heaped praise on Tottenham Hotspur's fighting spirit ahead of their Premier League clash against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.
Pochettino's side nearly lost out on a League Cup final place in Wembley after Sheffield United's Che Adams scored twice in the second half to cancel out Christian Eriksen's early lead at Bramall Lane.
But Spurs' midfield maestro Eriksen scored his second on the night in the 88th minute, making it a 2-2 and a 3-2 win on aggregate over the two legs, securing the north London club's place in the Capital One Cup final.
However, Tottenham's summer signing Stambouli hopes his team-mates don’t get overly excited as they still have a job to do at The Hawthorns against the Baggies. They are three points off the final Champions League position and Pochettino will be hoping they can secure a top-four spot this season.
“I’m very proud of the team and I have a lot of good feeling in my heart after Wednesday’s match,” Stambouli told Tottenham’s official website.
“We showed our fighting spirit and a good mentality at Sheffield United and we showed that we always fight until the end to get the victory.
“It was a good overall result for us but we are professionals and we will quickly change our mindsets to focus on the game on Saturday.
“We will go to West Brom and battle like we did on Wednesday night. Every game in England is a hard game but we have to try to win and I believe we can do it.”
