Brendan Rodgers said to Mario Balotelli that playing alongside Steven Gerrard is a “privilege” as the Italian striker continues to adjust back to life in England.
Brendan Rodgers moved the Liverpool skipper into a more advanced role in the later stages of their 2-1 victory over West Bromwich Albion F.C. at Anfield.
And the Liverpool boss believes that Balotelli can gain a lot by playing with the Liverpool captain.
“He [Gerrard] is a superstar player,” said Rodgers.
“This player is world class and for people playing alongside Steven Gerrard it’s a privilege.
“Steven is a player that makes the game look simple and Mario knows that he is playing with one of the greats of the game.
Rodgers added: “So it’s a combination of a top, outstanding player like Steven feeding a guy [like Mario] who needs certain types of passes and Steven can provide them.”
