Brendan Rodgers has done an outstanding job, says Liverpool legend.

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher heaped praise on Brendan Rodgers for a fantastic display following the Reds' 2-1 win over Manchester City at Anfield.

Jordan Henderson gave Liverpool the lead in the 11th minute and City replied through Edin Dzeko 14 minutes later.

But Philippe Coutinho scored the winner in the 75th minute, after his stunning strike went past Joe Hart, securing all three points for the homeside who moved to fifth position in the Premier League table.

And Carragher hailed Rodgers whose side have been impressive in recent months.

“The job Brendan Rodgers has done in these last few months is outstanding,” Carragher told Sky Sports following the 2-1 win at Anfield.

He added: “He has found a system that suits the new players that wasn’t a blueprint for why there were bought.

“Credit to the manager. He deserves all the praise now.

“The champions couldn’t handle it. The credit goes to the players for performing – but also the manager.”
