Ex-Manchester United player Johnny Giles says he wouldn’t be surprised if Liverpool sacked Brendan Rodgers after a very disappointing campaign.
The Merseyside club are seven points behind fourth-placed Manchester City heading into their clash against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday afternoon, and will be finishing the season without a trophy for the third season in a row under the Northern Irishman Rodgers.
However, Former Leeds United and Manchester United midfielder Giles reckons with Jurgen Klopp’s availability in the summer, Rodgers’ position at Liverpool could be under threat.
“I don’t think Brendan Rodgers is particularly safe,” Giles told Newstalk.com.
“It has been a very, very disappointing season for them after last season. Owners are always looking for the big saviour and Liverpool are no exception.
“If Rodgers did go, I wouldn’t be shocked about it.
“He has done a lot of strange things. He dropped four or five players for the Real Madrid game but said he wasn’t dropping them and it was his best team,” Giles added.
