BRENDAN RODGERS has claimed Liverpool were NEVER interested in Memphis Depay.
The PSV Eindhoven sensation, 21, completed a £25m move to Manchester United yesterday.
Starsport understands the Reds made efforts to sign him themselves.
But Rodgers has claimed they weren't keen as they have four wingers already.
He said: "It wasn't something we were ever interested in. We already have four wingers at the club. We have other priorities."
Raheem Sterling, Adam Lallana, Lazar Markovic and Jordon Ibe are Liverpool's current wide options.
Rodgers also revealed that Daniel Sturridge is likely to be out until at least September as he recovers from a hip operation.
He added: "We anticipate that Daniel will be back, hopefully to train around about September.
"Obviously it is long period of time out but we hope the problem and issues have been resolved with the operation.
"We hope he is available to train in September and then it is about getting his fitness in."
