A dire afternoon for Man United at Everton.
Former Liverpool stars Jamie Carragher and Graham Souness were shocked at what they saw from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer‘s men at Goodison Park today. Manchester United were looking to bounce back to winning ways today after their midweek defeat to Barcelona in the Champions League, but they were taking aback by Everton who gave them a good beating at Goodison Park.
Marco Silva's Toffees played out a 4-0 win over the Red Devils and they were the better side on Sunday afternoon against a toothless United side that could only manage to get a shot on target in the 86th minute. And, this was before David de Gea had been beaten four times as goals from Richarlison, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Digne and Theo Walcott handed the Merseyside club a huge win.
The result today makes it six defeats in the Red Devils’ last eight matches - since their huge win against PSG in the Champions League.
However, two former Liverpool greats had their say on United‘s performance.
Carragher told Sky Sports: "That was the worst performance from a Manchester United team I have seen since I have been working for Sky."
While Graham Souness added: "That was a team in their armchairs - not a team trying to qualify for the Champions League. It was a team that was plodding, drifting and going through the motions.
"The manager needs support because there was no fire from start to finish."
