Carragher heaped praise on Paul Pogba his sublime display in Manchester United’s 2-0 win over Southa

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher hailed Manchester United's summer signing Paul Pogba after the Frenchman's impressive display on Friday night.

The Red Devils sealed a 2-0 win over Southampton in Pogba's second United debut, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic scoring a brace on the night and former Liverpool defender Carragher praised the all-round display of Pogba - who is now the most expensive footballer following his £89m move from Juventus to Manchester United.

“He was strong and powerful and dominating the game. It wasn’t a case of him using strength and stamina. He wasn’t quite up to speed fitness wise. He was all over the pitch,” Carragher told Sky Sports.

“He was like an old fashioned midfield player. He covered every blade of grass. The only way to describe his performance was like he was the best kid in the school ground. He just went all over the place doing what he wanted.”

The France international won four Serie A titles on the bounce and also finished as a Champions League runner-up during his four-year spell in Turin.
