Carragher's reaction to Man Utd defeat at The Hawthorns.

Liverpool great Jamie Carragher labelled Juan Mata's two yellow card offences as "stupid" as the Spaniard was sent off in the first half of Manchester United’s 1-0 loss to West Bromwich Albion on Sunday.

Mata was sent off at The Hawthorns as he received two yellow cards within three minutes.

Salomon Rondon scored the winning goal for the Baggies in the 66th minute when he calmly finished off Sebastien Pocognoli’s cross.

However, speaking on Sky Sports after the clash, Carragher said: “It’s just not Juan Mata.

“It’s just stupid, you don’t normally expect that. You’re always going to get a yellow card for that, it’s so unlike him.

“You can’t help but like Juan Mata, he’s one of those players who’s always got a smile on his face.”

Manchester United now sit in sixth spot in the Premier League table and are three points behind the fourth-places Manchester City.
