Carrick: Rashford here to stay.

Carrick delighted with FA Cup progress.

Manchester United skipper Michael Carrick says Marcus Rashford is set to stay at the club for a long time. Rashford has been impressive for Louis van Gaal's side, scoring six goals in 11 appearances, including the winner against West Ham United in the FA Cup quarter-final replay at Upton Park on Wednesday. And, Carrick has been amazed by the youngster's impact in recent months.

He told MUTV: "It’s incredible. It’s so good to see young lads come in, do well and take their chance. Not in his wildest dreams could he have predicted the last two or three months that he’s had.

"He’s still got his feet on his ground though. He keeps coming in, he doesn’t change, he works hard, he listens, he’s willing to learn and I think he’s got a great chance of staying at the top for a long time.

"I don’t think it’s a flash in the plan, in and out. I think he’s here to stay and goals like that… we’ll welcome more of them!"

Carrick also expressed his delight at sealing a spot in the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

"I’m delighted. It means a lot," he said. "I’m desperate to go further in this competition.

"It was a long last ten minutes in the match, but we got there. We defended well enough and David’s [De Gea] helped us. We probably should have been comfortable really, the way the game went for us in the second half, but we’ll take that."
