Petr Cech praised Chelsea for responding with a 3-1 win over Sporting Lisbon on Wednesday night.
The Blues lost their first game of the season at St Jame's Park but responded with a win over Sporting Lisbon at Stamford Bridge.
Cesc Fabregas scored the opener through a penalty-kick and Andre Schrulle increased the lead with another strike in the 16th minute. Jonathan Silva then gave sporting a life-line few minutes [50th] into the second half but John Obi Mikel’s tap-in six minutes later clinched the win for Mourinho’s side.
And Cech who started ahead Courtois on the night was delighted with Chelsea’s performance.
“It’s always important to win especially when you lose a game in the league,” Cech told Chelsea’s official website.
“We wanted to have a good performance and win the game and you could see that from the start. We were really concentrated for the match.
“Sporting did well in the second half because they needed to get something to have a hope of going through. We had to be alert and after we scored the third we were able to control the match.”
Cech continued: “It’s up to everyone to keep working and to show to the manager when you get a game that you can play any game.
“For everybody it’s important to have this opportunity to play and to be in game-shape because the season is very long. You need everybody in the squad to be available and in the best condition possible to hope that you can win anything.”
