Chelsea, Arsenal, and United Eye Major Signings as January Approaches

Updated: Dec 16, 2024

Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United are preparing for significant transfers this January, with rumours circulating about key players.

According to Caught Offside, both Chelsea and Arsenal have their sights set on Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, with the 25-year-old Sweden international emerging as a top target for both London clubs looking to strengthen their attacking options. But The Mirror reports that Manchester United are also keen on bolstering its forward line, making Isak a potential target.

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich are reportedly making strides in securing a contract extension for Alphonso Davies, with various tabloids revealing that Manchester United have been monitoring the Canadian international. As Bayern look to lock down Davies' future, United might have to turn their attention elsewhere.

On the defensive front, Teamtalk suggests that Chelsea are leading the charge for Lecce’s 20-year-old left-back Patrick Dorgu, who is one of the best Scandinavian wonder kids on Premier League radars, though Teamtalk also notes that United remains in the race, albeit trailing behind their rivals.

Managerial Movement

In managerial news, Talksport reports that former Chelsea and Brighton manager Graham Potter has been sounded out by both Wolves and West Ham. Meanwhile, Florian Plettenberg indicates that if West Ham parts ways with Julen Lopetegui, former Borussia Dortmund coach Edin Terzic won’t be the man for the job. Instead, Kasper Hjulmand, ex-Denmark boss, is a serious contender.

At Wolves, The Telegraph reveals that David Moyes could be in the frame if Gary O'Neil faces the axe, though Luton’s Rob Edwards is also a name to watch given his history at Molineux.

Young Talent and Potential Moves

In the race for emerging talent, The Mail reports that Brighton and Southampton are keeping an eye on 18-year-old Lennon Miller of Motherwell, with Liverpool and Newcastle also showing interest in the Scotland U-21 midfielder.

Meanwhile, Liverpool’s pursuit of reinforcements continues. Caught Offside says the Reds are in talks with Bayer Leverkusen over a move for 23-year-old Dutch right-back Jeremie Frimpong, while Give Me Sport notes that Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, 23, has also caught Liverpool's attention. Fichajes adds that Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sane is on Liverpool’s radar, with the German winger potentially available for transfer.

High-Profile Departures and Contract Talks

In terms of departures, The Telegraph reveals that Manchester City could allow Kevin De Bruyne to join one of their sister clubs within the City Football Group when he leaves, with Inter Miami reportedly making him their primary target.

Meanwhile, Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Roma is eyeing Everton’s Guinea-Bissau striker Beto and Mali midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure. Fabrizio Romano reassures Liverpool fans that Ibrahima Konate is expected to sign a new deal, while Caught Offside suggests Juventus and Marseille are interested in Chelsea’s French defender Benoit Badiashile.

Finally, Teamtalk mentions that Chelsea is in discussions with Benfica over 22-year-old Portugal centre-back Tomas Araujo, with Axel Disasi potentially heading for the exit. And in a twist for Arsenal fans, The Mail reveals that the club could listen to offers for 24-year-old Fabio Vieira, who is currently on loan at Porto.
