Chelsea defender Reece James is raring to go.

Chelsea's Reece James is raring to go, and he is keen to enjoy a successful 2023-24 season.

Chelsea FC defender Reece James has expressed his delight ahead of the 2023-24 Premier League campaign.

The 23-year-old defensive maestro says he is feeling good and getting ready for Chelsea's remaining three pre-season games in America after missing out on the clash against Brighton.

Pochettino already confirmed that the England international will get his first minutes when they play Newcastle United in a preseason match in the States on Wednesday following his recovery from a minor illness.

However, the Chelsea Academy graduate James admits he is raring to go and keen to have a successful 2023-24 season after enduring a difficult spell last term.

‘It’s been difficult. Last season, I had a lot of injuries,’ he said as Chelsea's official site reported. ‘I have not played in three months. But at the moment it is good, and I am finding my feet again.

‘I am back into full training, I am over the illness now. I feel good!’ he smiled.'

When asked whether he is getting to a position where he doesn't suffer as many injuries, Reece replied: ‘I wish I could look into the future, I don’t know if they are over. I am trying my best to stay on the field. We are working hard with the managing staff and physios to get me ready and be on the field in every game.

‘There have not been too many changes [to the way I work]. This season, we are not in Europe so the games are broken up and I think that might play a part in keeping me on the field.

’I didn’t really take anything new on. I was just focused on my injury and recovery, and getting back to full fitness. I wanted to support the team wherever I could.’
