Chelsea hold mental advantage over PSG in Champions League last-16, says Ivanovic.

Branislav Ivanovic is convinced the Blues hold a psychological advantage in their Champions League last 16 clash against PSG, after both sides played out a 1-1 draw at the Parc des Princes in the first leg.

The Serbian international scored the opening goal on Tuesday night when his header found the net but Chelsea weren’t able to increase the lead and Paris St Germain responded through Edinson Cavani in the second half.

And, Chelsea defender Ivanovic believes they are in a good position heading into the second leg at Stamford Bridge.

“It’s a very important goal for the team,” said Ivanovic, as Sky Sports quoted. “Maybe we have a bit of a psychological advantage but these types of games are very difficult.

“We played well and had a lot of possession of the ball in the first half and we deserve the positive result from the first game.”

The 30-year-old continued: “They have three proper strikers who play all of the game and they all wanted to score, so it is very difficult defensively to close all of those things.

“We conceded the goal, but I think with this or goal or without this goal changes nothing for the game in London.”
