Chelsea midfielder Jon Obi-Mikel is on his way to Abu Dhabi - according to former Sunderland striker Asamoah Gyan.

Earlier in this month the 28-year-old midfielder was linked with a move to Turkish side Fenerbahçe, but Ghana international Asamoah Gyan has surprised fans by saying Mikel will be his teammate next term at Al Ain.

"I heard it this week that he has agreed terms with Al Ain and will most definitely be playing for us next season,” the Ghana international said.

"It's great news for us because Mikel Obi is a very good player and very experienced.

"It will be exciting playing with him in the same team, because I believe both of us, with the help of our other colleagues, can do more for the club."

Mikel joined the Blues back in 2006 but could be on his way out of the Bridge after falling down the pecking order at the west London club.
