Chelsea Set to Offload Marc Cucurella in January Transfer Window.

Updated: Oct 2, 2023

Chelsea FC are reportedly looking to part ways with left-back Marc Cucurella in the upcoming January transfer window. While Real Madrid have shown interest in a potential loan deal, Manchester United are unlikely to revive their previous interest.

Cucurella, who joined Chelsea from Brighton for £62 million last summer, has found himself out of favour under new manager Mauricio Pochettino, with no Premier League minutes to his name this season. According to ESPN, Chelsea are open to offers for the Spanish left-back in the winter transfer window.

La Liga giants Real Madrid have emerged as a possible destination for Cucurella, particularly for a loan move. In contrast, Manchester United, who considered a short-term deal during the summer, are no longer in contention. Erik ten Hag's Red Devils bolstered their left-back position by acquiring Sergio Reguilon from Tottenham on loan.

The prospect of returning to Spain reportedly appeals to Cucurella, making Real Madrid an early frontrunner in the race for his signature.

The 25-year-old, who has previously played for Barcelona, Eibar, and Getafe, is under contract at Stamford Bridge until 2028 and only made his second appearance of the campaign in the Blues' 1-0 Carabao Cup win over Brighton on Wednesday.
