Jose Mourinho will be hoping his Chelsea side can strengthen their position at the top of the Premier League when they take on West Ham on Boxing Day.
The home side have dominated for the majority of the first half of the season only falling to defeat one on occasion, however they could have fell to second if not for their 2-0 victory over Stoke City on Monday and still only lead closest rivals Manchester City by three points.
West Ham have had similarly excellent form for their expectations, they currently sit fourth going into this tie and have only lost one game in their last 11. They did manage a 0-0 draw last season in this fixture with Mourinho branding their play: “football from the 19th century.”
Their style of football has changed for the better from last year with manager Sam Allardyce saying: “We’ll see what century we’re in.” But their hosts are unbeaten in their eight games at Stamford Bridge so far conceding only three goals it could prove difficult.
Eden Hazard is a doubt for this lunchtime clash after he picked up a knock to his ankle in the win over Stoke on Monday. Apart from the injury to their Belgian playmaker Mourinho has a fully-fit squad, Oscar will be hoping for a start after he was left on the bench for the trip to the Britannia.
James Tomkins is too a doubt for the hammers with a hamstring injury while Sam Allardyce could replace striker Diafra Sakho with Enner Valenica. He can expect the return of Mark Noble after he has recovered from an Achilles problem.
