Clyne to wait until April before making decision on future.

Southampton defender Nathaniel Clyne has been one of the best right backs in the Premier League this season and it is no surprise to see him getting linked to various top clubs with Manchester United reportedly at the front of the queue of suitors.

Clyne’s contract expires in 2016 and it is understood that the Saints are getting anxious to tie him down to a new contract to ward off interest but the England international has said that he will wait till April to make a decision on his future.

“My contract, we’re still negotiating,” said Clyne.

“I’m negotiating with my agent and also with the club so, yeah, we’ll wait until April.”

United have only one natural right back in the squad and Louis van Gaal would like to add another player in that position to give competition to Rafael. The Dutch manager has been forced to play Valencia as a makeshift right back as Rafael recovers from a series of injuries.

The Old Trafford club are reported to have sent a scouting delegation to watch Southampton’s 2-1 win over Newcastle; however they face competition from Liverpool for the England full-back. If Clyne does opt to join Liverpool, then United would go after Everton’s Seamus Coleman.
