That’s the view of former Spain star Gaizka Mendieta, who believes the Red Devils star will reject the advances of Real Madrid this summer.
De Gea, whose contract expires at the end of next season, has been linked with a move to the Bernabeu after impressing for Louis van Gaal’s side.
The Dutchman has confirmed the club have offered De Gea 'a lot of money' to stay in the north west, and are desparate for the shot stopper to sign a new deal.
And ex-Barcelona and Valencia midfielder Mendieta claims the 24-year-old will remain at Old Trafford.
“Manchester United is a club, as a player, you want to play for,” he told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show. “If they qualify for the Champions League, that’s important as a player.
“From what I know, David De Gea is happy to stay at Manchester United.”
