David de Gea should remain at Old Trafford, says Romero.

Manchester United new goalkeeper Sergio Romero has revealed he will like David de Gea to stay at Old Trafford and snub a move Real Madrid .

De Gea has been linked with a move to Los Blancos all summer - with reports saying he will be a Real Madrid player on the last day of the transfer window.

However, Argentina international Romero has called on his teammate to remain in Manchester.

"The truth is that I have no idea (if he will leave), but for me I hope that De Gea stays here because he's a good team-mate who always works hard and that is best for the group," said Romero, who was released by Sampdoria in the summer.

"It is a difficult situation for him but when one is a great professional like he is and when one has a good head like his you keep training to get better day by day because you never know, he could play this weekend."
