Kevin De Bruyne's agent Patrick De Koster has disclosed that the midfield star was close to joining Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich before he signed for Manchester City in the summer transfer window.
The Belgium international sealed a move from German side Wolfsburg to City in the summer and had been impressive since his arrival at the Etihad.
"Kevin's heart was beating for the Bundesliga, where he broke through at Bremen and became a star at Wolfsburg," the 24-year-old's agent told SportFootMagazine.
"I'm convinced he would have played for Bayern if they had been able to pay the asking price.'
"We reached a personal agreement with Bayern after two meetings. The deal has collapsed on the asking price."
De Bruyne cost the Citizens £58m.
