Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal was pleased with his side after they beat Derby County to qualify for the fifth round of the FA Cup on Friday night and he is hoping they can win the trophy this season. The Red Devils skipper Wayne Rooney broke the deadlock in the 16th with a sublime finish to give the away side the lead, but the Rams responded 21 minutes later through George Thorne. Daley Blind and Juan Mata helped United win the tie after they scored in the 65th and 83rd minute respectively.
The triumph at the Pride Park Stadium was a good response after last weekend's 1-0 defeat to Southampton at Old Trafford. Van Gaal said after the clash: "It was maybe better than we had trained. We played at the right time against the resistance of Derby. "We gave their goal away but at half-time I said that it was a good performance, keep it up and we will win. And we did.
"The Premier League is very important but the FA Cup is the greatest cup in England with a long and important history. We haven't won it for a long time so we dream of it [but] after two wins you can't say that we will win it."
