Deulofeu: “I think La Masia is the most important academy in the world."

Inform Everton attacker Gerard Deulofeu is convinced he is in the best form of his life and enjoys playing alongside Romelu Lukaku.

The 21-year-old, who has been impressive for the Toffees so far this season talks up his partnership with Lukaku on the pitch and his early days as a footballer back in Catalonia.

“I used to go with my father to practice on the village pitch and with my friends,” Deulofeu told the Liverpool Echo.

“But in my house, I maybe had 10 balls and boom, boom, always.

"My mum always.....

"I think La Masia is the most important academy in the world,” he added.

“The coaches and the whole club helps you for your future.

“When you stay with Barcelona and are only 15 or 16, the people show you a lot of time and you are in the newspaper every day.

“This sometimes is good, but sometimes this is bad.

“You take a lot of pressure but Barcelona is the biggest team in the world so this is normal.

“If you play good then you stay in the newspaper all the time.

“My form is like what it was three years ago at Barcelona B,” he continued.

“When I have minutes and have the confidence of my team-mates and coach, I play well.

“Now I am playing with a lot of confidence and have shown that.

“I want to make more assists Rom and Ross. It is good for me and for them - and I want to stay at the top of the assists table!”

The Spaniard, who has created seven of Lukaku's 13 goals this term, also hailed his understanding with the Belgium striker - who calls him "The Supplier".

“It is natural but sometimes I work with Rom and we practice these crosses,” Deulofeu explained.

“But it is mainly natural and playing with Rom is easy for me because he’s a big striker and he’s an animal.

“When I get the ball, I look for Rom. It is the first thing I do because when I pass the ball and he takes it in the area, it is so difficult for the defenders.

“So my first thought is to look for Rom.

“We don’t go to dinner together or go to each others’ house but as team-mates we have a good relationship.

“It is the same with Ross and we have a good dressing room.”
