Donny van de Beek - 'I am really disappointed.'

Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek: "I am really disappointed, We lost confidence."

Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek expressed his utmost disappointment at how his side lost the match against Istanbul Basaksehir in Europe's elite competition.

The Red Devils’ were thrashed 2-1 as goals from Demba Ba and E. Višća meant their woeful display extended into the Champions League competition.

Anthony Martial pulled one back for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side but they just didn’t have a plan to seal a draw on Wednesday evening.

However, Van De Beek insists the United players need to take responsibility and turn the tide around in their Premier League tie against Everton at Goodison Park this weekend.

While speaking to BT Sport, the Dutchman, who secured a move from Ajax to Old Trafford in the previous transfer window, said: "I am really disappointed, We started OK in the first 10 minutes but then gave a ball away, I don't know how and after that we lost the confidence. We can play much better.

"We are a team and everyone has a responsibility. As I said before, we can play much better.

"I had a feeling (after Anthony Martial goal) and there was a lot of space to play and create but we did not create many chances.

"For them it is a really nice win and for us very disappointing. We need to improve a lot.

"We are Man United and we need to improve. The games before against Arsenal we did not play our best game. Now we have to step up against Everton."
