Dortmund Confirm Agreement Reached With Chelsea For Jamie Gittens Transfer

Hold onto your hats, football fans, Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea have struck a deal to bring young English winger Jamie Gittens to Stamford Bridge! This comes after Chelsea's recent signing of Joao Pedro.

The 20-year-old England U21 star, Gittens, is set to make the switch across the continent in a transfer reportedly worth £48.5 million, plus some juicy add-ons.

Gittens’ journey to this moment has been anything but ordinary. Starting out at just five years old with his local side Caversham Trents, Jamie showed early sparks of talent that couldn’t be ignored.

After two years there, he made the move to Reading, where he continued to develop his craft. Interestingly, Chelsea came calling early on, but at the under-9 level, Gittens decided to stick with Reading, a choice that clearly set the foundation for his methodical rise.

At under-14, the young winger made a big leap, signing with Manchester City’s academy, which was proof of his growing reputation. Two years later, in 2020, he ventured abroad to Borussia Dortmund, embracing the challenge of German football.

There, he blossomed, becoming a dynamic threat on the wing with 17 goals and 14 assists in 107 appearances for the Black and Yellows.

The clubs finalised talks during the Club World Cup in the US, with Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl expressing relief and optimism as BBC Sport quoted: “The negotiations were tough, but we’re thrilled to meet our financial goals and secure planning certainty.

“Jamie is a fantastic player who brought us a lot of joy. Now, he’s eager for the next chapter at Chelsea, and we wish him all the best.”

Chelsea fans will have to wait a bit before seeing him in action. Gittens won’t be eligible to play until after the Club World Cup. Still, the excitement is real as he joins a growing list of new signings this summer, signalling the Blues’ intent to shake things up.

From grassroots football in Berkshire to the bright lights of the Bundesliga and now Premier League ambitions, Jamie Gittens’ story is one of steady growth and bold moves. With his electric pace and sharp skills, he’s ready to make waves in West London.

Chelsea and Dortmund have agreed a £48.5m deal for Jamie Gittens.
