According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United are definitely interested in Aleksandar Dragovic but a January bid for the defender is not on the cards.
The Old Trafford club have been closely monitoring the Austrian but are not fully convinced whether he would be able to adapt to the Premier League.
A number of reports originating in Austria last week suggested that the player could be on his way to United but those reports seem premature now as the player’s representatives feel that a summer swoop is more likely.
Dragovic joined Dynamo Kyiv from FC Basel in July 2013, winning the Ukrainian Cup in his first season at the club, and has been capped 35 times by Austria.
Van Gaal recently stated that United won’t be active in the transfer market in January unless they could acquire players better than those currently in the squad.
“I don’t think that we shall be very active as not many players of a certain level are available,” he said.
“I have said that when we buy a player he has to be better than the players that are playing now and that is a difficult job.”
With Mats Hummels being Van Gaal’s first choice defensive target, Dragovic could emerge as a target only if United fail in their pursuit to lure the World Cup winner to Old Trafford.
