Unai Emery says Arsenal never discussed securing the services of Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona.
The Brazil international has been constantly linked with a move away from the Camp Nou throughout the close season, with Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United and Liverpool rumoured to be potential destinations for the midfielder - who has had an unsuccessful 18-month spell in Spain.
Over the weekend, rumours in Spain suggested that the Gunners were looking at a temporary deal for the 27-year-old, but Emery quashed the stories, saying they're not interested in signing Coutinho.
"I like Coutinho as a footballer, but it is another thing that we are interested in him," the Arsenal boss told El Larguero. "We have never talked about Coutinho."
Arsenal were beaten 2-1 by Barca in the Joan Gamper Trophy on Sunday, but Coutinho, who recently returned from the Copa America, was an unused substitute for the LaLiga champions.
