Manchester City midfielder Fabian Delph has blasted his side after their humiliating 4-1 loss to Liverpool on Saturday afternoon.
The loss meant the Citizens dropped to third from first spot on the Premier League table, two points behind table toppers Leicester City.
"We just never seemed to get going," Delph said, reports mcfc.co.uk. "Fair play to Liverpool for the way they came out but we looked too clumsy.
"Obviously the new manager they've got has implemented a system to press high. We expected that and we knew what they were going to come with.
"We were off in the first 45 minutes; then the performance in the second half was a bit more positive - a bit more direct."
Delph - who moved from Villa Park to the Etihad in the summer - also said that Manuel Pellegrini's side will be looking to get the game against Liverpool off their system as they face Serie A champions Juventus in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night.
