Leicester 1-2 Chelsea: Wesley Fofana Reflects on Blues’ Hard-Fought Victory at King Power
Chelsea claimed a crucial 2-1 win over Leicester City at the King Power Stadium, with goals from Nicolas Jackson and Enzo Fernandez pushing the Blues to third place in the Premier League table.
Wesley Fofana, making an emotional return to his former home, played a key role in Chelsea’s composed defensive display. Speaking after the match, Fofana highlighted the challenge of returning from the international break, adding 'we like this pressure.'
“After the international break, it is a bit harder. Some players only came back yesterday,” said the Frenchman. “We played well and we won the game, which is the most important thing. The job is done. We have the three points.”
Chelsea’s intent was clear from the start, with Jackson opening the scoring in the 15th minute after a clever link-up with Fernandez. The Argentine doubled Chelsea’s lead in the second half, converting a rebound from close range.
Leicester, fighting to avoid a deeper slide down the table, were stifled by Chelsea’s dominance, managing only brief attacking moments. Fofana, who spent two seasons at Leicester before his Chelsea move, reflected warmly on his return: “It felt great to come back here—two incredible years here.”
Despite a late penalty from Leicester’s Jordan Ayew, the Blues remained resilient to secure all three points.
“We like this pressure; we play for this and to finish at the top,” Fofana added. “We try to win every game to stay high.”
Chelsea’s impressive form under Enzo Maresca continues, leaving fans optimistic about the remainder of the campaign. Meanwhile, Leicester remains in 16th place, struggling for consistency.
