Steven Gerrard is convinced Jurgen Klopp's Reds will battle for the Premier League title this season.
The Liverpool legend told BT Sport ahead of the Community Shield that the Merseyside club will finish above bitter rivals Manchester United, backing the Reds to finish second, behind Manchester City.
"Adam Lallana's injury is a huge blow," says Gerrard as the Mirror quoted. "Because he was a player in great form and confidence.
"But Salah is coming in, Mane back fit and hopefully Coutinho will stay.
"Liverpool look really dangerous on the counter. If they can learn how to break teams down at home and defend a bit better, I think they are a force."
As for the concerns over the lack of signings so far at Anfield, Gerrard believes there is still time to recruit a few more players.
"There is still time, three weeks to go," he said. "Last year, against the top six they were excellent and had a very good record.
"In pre-season, they have looked very strong and with three weeks to go in the window, I wouldn't be surprised if Jurgen has got a couple of cards up his sleeve.
"He might bring a couple of big signings in."
STEVEN GERRARD'S TOP FOUR PREDICTION.
1. Manchester City
3. Manchester United
