Former United star defends Emery.

The new Arsenal boss has seen his side lose to Manchester City and Chelsea respectively.

Gary Neville has backed Unai Emery’s tactics in Arsenal’s first two Premier League games of the season.

The Gunners were beaten in their two opening matches of the Premier League season, losing 2-0 at home to Manchester City before being thrashed 3-2 by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. However, Manchester United legend insists he can see things heading in the right direction under the Spaniard.

"For me, the idea of what the coach has been trying to work on is there," he said on Monday Night Football. "He is trying to undo quite a lot of the bad habits, to be quite honest with you, that have been going on for the last five or six years, that those players have had in them.

"But the principle is there and that's a big change for me. It's a big step forward and if I were Unai Emery after these first two games against Manchester City and Chelsea I would be taking the positives."
