Gareth Southgate praised Harry Kane for his unselfish play.

The Three Lions thumped Montenegro seven nil at Wembley to clinch a position in next summer's Euro 2020 finals.

Gareth Southgate has hailed “ruthless” Harry Kane after his hat-trick helped England secure a spot in the European Championships.

Kane's hat-trick and strikes from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Marcus Rashford, Tammy Abraham, and an own-goal from defender Aleksander Sofranac secured a 7-0 win over Montenegro at Wembley on Thursday night.

Following the win, Southgate said of Kane, who became the first player to score a hat-trick in consecutive appearances for England at Wembley, as the Mail quoted: “He’s an incredible goalscorer, that’s the obvious part of his game, but he’s a number 9 that can play and link as an outstanding number 10 as well.

"So, not only does he lead the line for us, providing the goal threat, he also provides opportunities for others and I’ve said before, what an unselfish player he is.

“But of course when those opportunities are there he’s absolutely ruthless.”
