Pep Guardiola insists that striker Erling Haaland needs time to adapt to Manchester City’s training methods and playing style.

The Norway international, who joined the Cityzens from Borussia Dortmund this summer, played 40 minutes of City’s eventful pre-season friendly against Bayern Munich on Sunday.

Haaland scored the only goal of the game (in the 12th minute) at the Lambeau Field Stadium to hand the Premier League champions the narrow win over the Bavarian club.

However, Guardiola says there’s more to from the 22-year-old when he's had more time on the training ground.

"He scored a goal which is important, these types of goals in front of the keeper - always he’s there," said Pep.

"The first minutes, he needs more rhythm and time but already he had 45 minutes which is good for him. We’ll see how he reacts to the niggles that he had in the previous weeks.

"After we come back we have long weeks to prepare every weekend game. In those two or three weeks, we will get the best form."

Haaland hails Grealish for assisting his goal.

Haaland praised midfielder Jack Grealish who created the chance for his goal against the Bundesliga champions at Green Bay Packers’ iconic Lambeau Field Stadium and also admitted that he likes ‘the vibe’ of playing alongside the England international.

“Good. He has to get better and I have to get better but (it was a) good link. I like the vibe around him so its going to be fun,” said Haaland.

“Really good to get started again after six weeks without playing football so it was a good feeling.

“(It's the) First time I’ve won against Bayern and it was time after seven losses in a row.

"The quality was good and it was a real test ahead of Liverpool in the Community Shield.”
