Former England midfield star Rob Lee is convinced Harry Kane is the closest he has seen to Premier League legend Alan Shearer, and is backing the Spurs frontman to continue is goal scoring form next term.
Kane, who fought really hard to become the man to lead the Lily Whites’ frontline, scored over 30 goals in all competitions for Mauricio Pochettino's side and also won the PFA Young Player of the Year award.
However, the former Newcastle player Lee praised Kane - who is currently with the England Under-21s - and compared him to the Premier League's record goal scorer Shearer.
“He’s the closest thing I’ve seen to Alan Shearer,” he told talkSPORT.
“I know he’s only had one season but I saw his header against Arsenal and I’ve seen Alan do that many many times. I think he can hold the ball up and his finishing is very good as well.
“If he can be half the player Alan was he will be a very good player.”
Kane is being monitored by the Red Devils and Lee reckons if Louis van Gaal comes calling, it'll be hard for the 21-year-old to resist.
He added: “He’s very young and he will only get better. If he can have another season like that next season, then people are talking about a transfer to Man United which would be very interesting.
“Not many turn down Man United when they come calling.”
