In a recent interview with United Review, Ander Herrera discussed about five Manchester United legends who have inspired him and it was no surprise to see him pick them out given their iconic status at the Old Trafford club.
Herrera praised the professionalism of Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes and admired their intensity in training, further adding: “The best one for me is Ryan Giggs, not only for the things he did on the pitch in matches, but for everything. Everyone has told me he was always a very good professional who always trained hard.
“I loved Scholes’ football style and all the players told me he was an unbelievable professional who always tried to improve in training every day.”
Eric Cantona and Cristiano Ronaldo are firm fan favourites at the club and Herrera feels that he had to include them in his list.
“He was a fantastic player and even now the fans still sing his name. Ronaldo is an unbelievable player. He and Messi are the best in the world.”
Herrera waxed lyrical about Wayne Rooney describing him as one of the best players in the world and praised him for the responsibilities he has taken upon himself after taking on the captain’s armband.
“I feel lucky to be able to play with Wayne. He is one of the best players in the world. He is so competitive in every game, it doesn’t what the game is, he always wants to win. When you see Wayne from outside the club, you might think he is a like superstar and he is but he is also someone who always wants to help you.
"I talk to him a lot and he is always there to help me. He is our captain and I’m proud of him because he is achieving lots of records for his club and country.”
