The Blues secured a 2-0 win over Newcastle United and Steve Holland praised their all-round performance as Chelsea continued their 100 per cent winning run at Stamford Bridge this season.
Oscar scored the first goal of the clash in the 43rd minute and former Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa increased the deficit for the West London side in the 59th minute.
However, the win moved Chelsea two points above Manchester City - who drew 1-1 with Everton at Goodison Park - and Holland who has been taking the media duties since Mourinho got the FA charge, was happy with the team's performance against the Magpies.
“The two halves were different,” said Holland as reported by The Sport Review.
“You have to give credit to Newcastle. We didn’t play so well but got the breakthrough.
“The team was much better in the second half and controlled the game, playing some good football around their box.
“You always want to play well but that’s now always possible. Today was a 45 minutes which we haven’t had often over the course of the season but we still managed to be 1-0 up.
“It is important that when you don’t play as well as you’d like to still get the result.”
