Iwobi reveals the major influence who helped him at Arsenal.

Arsenal star Alex Iwobi has revealed whose influence helped him during his early days at the north London club. Iwobi said former Gunner Mikel Arteta and Jack Wilshere had the biggest influence on him when he was breaking through at the Emirates, particularly Arteta - who often trained with Arsenal’s under-21 side after recovering from injury.

While speaking to FourFourTwo, the Nigeria international said: “I’ve always like to laugh and joke but back then I maybe took it a bit too far.

“Mikel told me to stay focused on football. Someone like him saying that makes you take notice, so I did.”

On Jack Wilshere, he said: “Growing up, I idolised Jack Wilshere. He was a great technical player. Back in the day, we’d always try to get advice from him.”
