Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has revealed what he heard about Jamie Vardy's imminent move to Arsenal from Premier League champions Leicester City. According to widespread reports, the Gunners have triggered the England striker's £20m release clause in his four-year contract with the Foxes. However, speaking after France’s Euro 2016 warm-up win over Scotland on Saturday, Giroud told Sky Sports News HQ: “I’ve been told that Jamie wants to join us. It is very good news for us. “I think we can be complimentary. That’s all I can say. He is fantastic player so it’s good news for us.” When asked if Vardy's arrival would push Arsene Wenger to change his formation, Giroud replied jokingly "obviously 4-4-2". "As I said in the past I am happy with competition," the 29-year-old added. "We have always had fantastic strikers at Arsenal and I want the best for this club. Hopefully he is going to help us win this title. "The boss wanted to sign at least one or two strikers, so I expected a top striker and I think it will benefit the club and hopefully he is going to score a lot of goals like he did at Leicester."
