Toni Kroos agreed to join Manchester United but changed his mind after David Moyes’ sacking, according to Jan Aage Fjortoft.
Manchester United were linked with a move for the 24-year-old during the summer transfer window but a move to Old Trafford never happened.
Kroos decided to join Real Madrid from Bayern Munich on a six-year deal in the summer which ended rumours about his future.
However, Fjortoft the former Norway international says that the Germany international already “agreed” to move to Old Trafford before Moyes was sacked.
Fjortoft tweeted on Wednesday night: “Been told from very good sources that Toni Kroos agreed to join Man UTD. But after Moyes out – Van Gaal in: Kroos said no.”
Toni Kroos was a key player for Germany in win the World Cup as they won Argentina 1-0 to win the final in Brazil.
