Who knows? Chelsea might have made an error allowing John Terry’s contract to expire at the end of this season.
Former Chelsea midfielder Ray Wilkins believes the decision not to award their captain John Terry a new contract would have annoyed the Blues skipper.
After Chelsea beat MK Dons 5-1 in the FA Cup, the former England captain announced that the Premier League champions have decided not to renew his contract beyond the of this season.
However, Wilkins says he is 'flabbergasted' with the news about Terry, who was expecting to have a 'fairytale ending’ at Stamford Bridge by retiring at the club.
“I think he [Terry] is annoyed. He’s Chelsea through and through. To lose someone as influential as John could be a slight error,” Wilkins told talkSPORT.
“Guus [Hiddink] will be flabbergasted by it because it was a recommendation from him to give John another year at the club.
“He’s an enormous follower of John. He admires him immensely because he controls and works that dressing room.
“But it’s the club’s prerogative to make these decisions.”
